hello all. I am starting my investing journey and am looking at Canadian ETFs. My main goal is long term growth, and I'm currently researching XEQT and VFV. I have researched both ETFs and done my due diligence but I want to know some other people's opinions.

I know for the past 14 years VFV has preformed quite well, as the S&P 500 and overall American market has reached record highs and a historic bullish run. However, I am concerned with the prospect of the AI bubble popping, and the inevitable dip in American market performance.

I know that over time, the market always comes back, and as I mentioned I really am in no rush to see returns in the short term. The only thing is that I believe international markets will become progressively stronger in the next decade or so.

I would buy both XEQT and VFV to "diversify" but as many of you know, that would really only overweigh my investment in the American market as nearly half of XEQT's exposure is American.

In terms of the future, what ETF do you believe will perform better? I am aware that historically both have had a similar run but my main concern lies in VFV's lack of diversity. I am also looking at CAGE and some of the other new CIBC Avantis ETFs. If you had to chose between XEQT and VFV, which would you choose?

As I said, I really am just beginning to get into all of this, so my apologies if this seems like a really basic question.

Hello all, I am just starting out my investing journey and am focusing on long term growth through a TFSA. My main goal is to compound value over time, so I am prioritizing growth potential over other things like dividends. Since I intend to invest mainly in Index ETFs, my question is: Should I invest in American Index ETFs like VOO, QQQ and VUG, or is it smarter to buy Canadian ETFs that track American markets like VFV and XUS? I know the American government charges 15% tax on dividends, but like I said I am not prioritizing dividend yields, rather long-term growth potential. I also plan on using IBKR so it makes the foreign exchange aspect easier. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
