Parents, what’s been the hardest/confusing part about investing for your child?

I have a young child and recently started looking into planning/investing for their future, but honestly it gets overwhelming really fast.

There are so many options, mutual funds, SIPs, PPF, insurance, investing in child’s name or your own name and everyone seems to have different opinions.

Just curious from other parents here:
What has actually been the most confusing, stressful, or annoying part for you while doing this? And what do you wish was simpler?

Do investments kept for children usually stay untouched long-term?

I have a 5-year-old child and recently started thinking seriously about investing early for their future.

One thing I keep wondering about though is whether money kept aside for children actually stays untouched long-term. Sometimes life happens, emergencies, expenses, unexpected situations and I wonder if parents usually end up using some of it somewhere in between.

Curious how people handle this in real life. Does the money usually stay separate, or does it sometimes get used for other family needs as well?

I’m thinking of starting mutual fund investments for my child, but I’m confused whether I should do it in my own name or directly in the child’s name.

One thing I read is that minor accounts get frozen once the child turns 18 until they take control of it, which made me wonder how people usually approach this in real life. For people who’ve gone through this -how did you feel about handing over control once your child became an adult? Did it work out smoothly, or do most people prefer keeping investments in their own name for simplicity?

Investment for children

Should I invest in mutual funds or stick to traditional options for my 5-year-old child’s future? Also, is it better to invest in my name or the child’s name?
