Hi everyone, my partner and I are college-age in the U.S., with two cats. My neutered 5 y.o. male cat keeps licking his genital area. We took him to the vet earlier because we understand this can be very serious. They prescribed him gabapentin and buprenorphine, which we gave him earlier today as prescribed. I checked his penis, and he is still licking it; it is very red and kind of pulsating(?) with some whitish and watery fluid at the tip. Has anyone dealt with this before, or has any idea of what it could be? He already got a blood panel today, which was apparently "totally normal," and we are waiting on the results of a urinalysis, which will come back in a few days.
We already dished out quite a bit of money for his emergency vet and treatments earlier today, but obviously we love him alot and are quite worried and if we need to go back we will.
TLDR: Took him to vet, but still licking and discharge --> vet again?
I found a hurt pigeon near campus; does anyone know any helpful wildlife rehabilitation centers or rescue services that might be able to help him?
