New Slow Zone Map has dropped
Besides the Forest Park Branch of the Blue Line for obvious reasons, it seems they’ve been really working on the Red Line compared to the beginning of the year

I used the speedometer app on my phone to see how fast trains were running on the “express” section mostly between Fullerton and Belmont after the recent slow zone work. I know CTA usually lets trains hit a top speed of 45 mph on elevated tracks that are on steel structures (55 mph on elevated concrete structures).
Going Southbound, my train hit the top speed of 45 mph easily, and going Northbound, my train hit a speed of 42 mph. I know it’s not entirely accurate, but it’s close enough!
Hopefully it’ll stay like this for a while instead of flipping back and forth like the past couple of years.
