Does anyone know if there are any reputable clinics that offer Yellow Fever vaccine on request? I have an upcoming trip to Africa and although I am not going to overnight in any YF countries, my outbound flight transits at Ethiopia and while YF certificate is not needed for transits below 12 hours (mine included), I cannot exclude the possibility of delays that result in me staying at the airport for more than 12 hours, especially since this transit is on the outbound journey and I do not wish to delay my travel plans. Hence I was thinking of getting the vaccine just to be on the safer side, and since it is supposed to provide lifelong protection as well.
However, I recently went the travel clinic at one of the local public hospitals and they rejected giving me the shot as my itinerary does not involve spending >12 hours at any YF countries. I was counselled that it wasn't necessary to subject myself to risk of being injected with a vaccine containing an attenuated form of the virus. But I still want to consider taking it as an additional safety layer, so where can I go where they will just offer you the vaccine if I request for it and I acknowledge the risks but decide to proceed nonetheless? On the other hand, would there be any repercussions (aside from the side effects) if I just lie about my itinerary?
