We have this huge pond in our backyard (far bigger than our property) that encroaches into the backyard itself. We own the land beyond the fence, so the trees/water in our property are our property. It's been rainy a lot and not hot enough so the water keeps encroaching further into the backyard. Usually, the water doesn't come this far up at all but it still crosses the fence

When it dries up this summer a little bit, I was thinking about dumping a bunch of dirt along the fence line and planting some native water retaining plants on both sides of the fence (areas B and C - ideally C so it doesn't come into B very often). I understand that I won't win the battle against a massive pond but even a little bit would go a long way lol where I'm standing is literally all we have for the backyard. I'm in Western NY and this is a standalone pond - no connection to anything

What would you guys suggest this for a project like this? Ideally whatever plants they are would survive a Lake Effect winter as well

Edit: Thanks everyone! I've made a list and will go and see if I can find some of these plants in the coming month. Should be exciting!
