This happened a few weeks ago and I can’t really place it, so I’m curious if others have experienced something similar.
I was walking back from the gym in the city center of Amsterdam. It was early morning, not too busy, very clear surroundings. I’m someone who’s always very aware of what’s around me.
I was standing at a pedestrian crossing, waiting for the light. On the other side there were a few people, and one man with a stroller stood out to me. Blond-ish hair, child around 2–3 years old. For some reason I kept looking at his face, trying to figure out who he reminded me of. That doesn’t usually happen to me.
The light turns green, we cross. He walks past me going the opposite direction. Nothing strange at that point.
About 20–30 seconds later, I’ve turned into the next street, walking away from where he came from. And then suddenly, that same man with the stroller walks past me again, coming from the direction I’m walking towards.
Same person. Same child. Same clothes.
I actually stopped and turned around because it didn’t make sense. Based on the direction he was going, and the layout of the streets there, it’s not something he could have done by quickly looping around or taking a shortcut.
I’m not jumping to conclusions or calling it anything. It just didn’t add up.
Has anyone experienced something like this, where you see the exact same person twice in a way that doesn’t seem physically possible?
