Hello!

I’m currently looking into transitioning away from clinical practice. I recently tried my hand at residency but realized that the hospital grind and the clinical setting wasn't the right fit for me.

I am currently looking into roles like Drug Safety PhysicianPharmacovigilance, and Medical Writing (specifically PSURs/regulatory writing) in CROs like ClinChoice and ICON, or local companies like Unilab.

For those who have made the jump:

  1. How was the transition? Did you find it difficult to adjust to a corporate 9-5 after the chaos of the hospital?
  2. Was the "Senior" title accessible? I see many "Senior Associate" roles for Safety Physicians—is it possible to get these even with 0 corporate experience if you have an MD license?
  3. Salary/Growth: Is the pay-off worth it in the long run compared to staying in clinical practice or specializing?
  4. Certifications: Did you take ICH-GCP or any other seminars before applying, or did you learn on the job?

I’d appreciate any stories, tips, or even "I wish I knew this before" advice. Being picky with my career path feels a bit isolating when most of my batchmates are in residency, so hearing from anyone on the other side would mean a lot!

Thanks, docs! I'd appreciate any input and I'm sure those in the same boat would love to hear from you!
