Frustration with insertion sites
I’m so exhausted and frustrated with my insertion sites lately. I’m really at my breaking point and just crying because I’m so tired but scared to fall asleep and have more lows like last night.
I use the tandem pump and overall really like it. I’ve been a pump user for 20 years and tandem t slim user for 10 years.
I’ve used autosoft 90s for the first 18 years and then suddenly started getting occlusion alarms constantly. Tandem got me to try autosoft 30s and they were instantly amazing, with the exception of the butt/lower back site because I need two hands for that and can’t twist back there. For two years I’ve been using autosoft 90s everywhere except the butt cheek and 30s on that area.
Yesterday I did a change and inserted a 30 into my leg just fine. Went out, blood sugar was good going to bed and then I had a low that took 2.5 hours and 100+ carbs to correct. I was terrified the whole time not understanding what went wrong
I’ve struggled to manage the numbers today and I’ve been stuck 300+. I finally decided to change my site and noticed that there was redness/puffiness under the adhesive of the 30. I believe it was too shallow and wasn’t injecting properly into the fat layer, causing longer and slower activity.
I switched to a 90 on my lower back and finally got into bed after only getting 4 hours of sleep last night. As I’m falling asleep, I get an occlusion alarm with my 90.
I have just inserted a 30 on the front of my stomach and I’m so tired I need to get a couple hours of sleep, but I’m so scared it might be another night of insane lows.
All of this on top of the fact that I’m traveling so while I pack plenty of extras, I’m scared I’ll run out before I get home.
I don’t really know that I need advice. I’m pretty much a pro at talking with educators and tandem by now. I’m just so tired and so done with diabetes. It’s hard to stay positive or even functional when you just keep getting knocked back down again.
