Sketchy used car dealership
In search of advice, so I live in Texas and I recently purchased a car in Grand Prairie at a place called Under10ktexasauto, they called themselves a “warehouse” and that the actual seller was a dealership in Arizona called Easy car auto. The car was listed at 5,500 I liked the price and loved the car so I wanted to go through with purchase. Right after I sat down she told me there was a 1500 dollar fee but she would be able to get it down to 1000 dollars. I had a bad reaction and she asked me what I wanted to pay, I asked her what it was for, apparently a standard fee that all dealerships would charge and she made it seem like if I bought the car I would receive the title in the mail within two weeks and it would be in my name. She did end up lowering it to 700 so I bought it and paid a total of 6200 in cash. It is now a month and a half later and they’re telling me that they didn’t get a signature from the people that sold it to auction, and then they bought it from the auction and now I have to wait 3 more weeks for the title, which I “definitely” get by June 12th, or they’ll refund if I bring the car back. My problem is I’ve spent almost an additional 2000 on the car and I like it and would like to keep it but not if I’ll never get the title, one guy said I could be refunded for what I’ve spent in addition to the cost of the car, and another guy there told me he would have to “ talk to a supervisor” because I paid cash and I would want everything I’ve spent back in cash. They’re also telling me that if I do choose to get the title it won’t be in my name and I’ll have to pay for a title transfer even though I was originally told that was part of the 700 dollar fee. I’m just at a total loss on what to do, I’m a single mom and I went without a car for 7 months due to my car I had a loan on being totaled intentionally by my ex and it took forever to get through that mess, and save for a new car, and then the car buying process was a nightmare. I finally thought I was mostly done with the situation and I just need some advice on what to do next, give the car back and demand a refund ? Or wait for the title? I’m worried I need a lawyer which I don’t have the money for, but I am calling the auto theft task force in my county tomorrow, I’m hoping they can at least help a little. But I’m freaking out and really looking for advice.
