We have a 100+ year old Norwegian Maple in our front yard. We’d like to eventually naturalize the yard and would like to start by leveling the mound behind the tree. I think its root flare looks good in the front but could we expose some more root flare at the back? If it may harm the tree, we won’t mess with it. We just want to know if we can level the mound a little bit and expose some root flare back there. Any advice would be appreciated!
