Blood in eye update—pirate status unlocked 🏴☠️
Hi I’m back with an update on my post last week. Blood pressure was 160 which is high but the vet said wasn’t alarmingly high. After multiple vet visits we went for a follow up Tuesday where the vet completed an eye pressure test. The damaged eye was at the top of the pressure scale (99+) and the vet recommended removal immediately. 1 day and a few grand later and we now have a little pirate kitty. She went through the surgery well and they are biopsying the eye this week.
It’s been stressful and really sad honestly for all parties involved. I’m trying to be hopeful that she will recover fully and that this is just a hellish interlude. Yesterday evening her good eye got something in it and we weren’t certain if we could flush it out or if the second eye was starting to fail (pressure test on that eye was completely normal). We did eventually flush it out and it appears to have just been latent gunk from the surgery/sleep.
