The last post got deleted because I messed it up. I am finding this weirdly therapeutic because I am only discussing it with my closest friends yet I have an urge to tell everyone what type of man my ‘religious’ and ‘philanthropic’ father was.
One of 4 kids. Very Catholic family. Almost got sent to an Opus Dei school! Born disabled. My parents are from smaller European nations so I can’t say where they’re from. They ended up in Monaco. My dad hated paying tax. Father sold a company to another company you’ve definitely heard of. He was never a billionaire but not far off. We all thought we were loaded, living the good life. Turns out he had lost it all and was basically living off loans/debt. We only found out after he died suddenly from a cardiac condition we didn’t know he had.
Oddly, it’s been a really positive experience. Am free of the oppressive weight of his ‘success’ and feeling like a failure. The difficult bit is the betrayal and not suspecting any of it.
My ultra religious moralistic dad also had many many girlfriends and other lives in other countries.
I want to thank you all for your fantastic comments before. It’s great to speak about this with strangers. Don’t know why.
I totally expected the ‘you’re lying’ comments. It’s the internet.
If any part of this is interesting, let me know!
