I’ve been thinking about this because on my last Kingmaker run I played a magus with the aldori dueling style for the melee base and made liberal use of spell combat - the flavor here was that I was taught the aldori style by Jamandi and at least as far as the melee part of my build goes, I was already her protege, so to speak, from before the events of the game. My partner? Valerie, who canonically already had a history with the Aldoris but chose not to become a swordlord - I used the companion respec mod to change her class into an Aldori defender and RP’d the two of us as an Aldori duelist couple always cutting (and blasting, in my case) enemies down side by side and it was the most immersive and fulfilling battle couple RP I’ve experienced from a video game to date. I paid a small feat tax for both of us to have the “back to back” feat for both flavor and usability purposes to heighten the RP and gameplay immersion of the two of us being strong and self-sufficient as individual combatants, but unstoppable when we’re side by side:

🎵 I’m a movement by myself 🎵

🎵 But I’m a force when we’re together 🎵

🎵 Mami I’m good all by myself 🎵

🎵 But baby you - you make me better 🎵

As far as the actual romance path goes stricly in a vacuum, I could certainly see a case for Octavia or Kanerah/Kalikke, or Arushalae from WoTR. But as far as this particular feeling and vibe go, this battle couple RP with Valerie just absolutely crushed everything else I’ve done in terms of immersion and really allowed the idea to shine in both RP flavor and gameplay integration in a way that I haven’t been able to replicate so completely elsewhere.
