Hi folks, not sure what subreddit to ask this in but figured this group should know a thing or two about this. I bought an older Thule Summit cargo box for my van, and I'm a bit skeptical of the mounting hardware that came with it. I've only used the "claw" type attachments that newer Thule boxes tend to use.
I'm trying to figure out if there's something missing (like a U-bolt perhaps) with the hardware, since I'm a bit hesitant to trust the flimsy feeling plastic bottom bracket with the weight of the roof box. It's a bit difficult to find info on this mounting hardware, but I've found these links with a diagram / aftermarket identical hardware for reference -

Has anyone had experience with this setup before? Should I trust this old hardware to hold the roof box, or are there any upgrades to it that anyone would recommend? I basically just don't like the fact that the bottom piece holding the whole weight of the roof box is just a slotted piece of plastic, but maybe I'm overthinking it. Thanks all!
