My partner is looking for a job as Graphic Designer. For the past year, he is dealing with the most challenging professional period - no matter how many applications sends, no one reaches out, or very few.
He is located in Romania country.
He encountered all of the following scenarios:
- Someone reaches out, asks for a portfolio link, then dissappears;
- Someone proposes an interview, then never returns with the actual schedule / invite for that interview;
- Countless of direct e-mails, send to various recipients from HR to department managers or company managers, even some which were contacted or spoken to in person previously - remain unanswered.
- Tests that end up with "We decided to go with someone else" message - even tests that took an entire weekend to do. Would you assume that they had a lot of eager and restless applicants, who did marvelous tests and it was so hard to chooose...
There isn't any functional flaw in the materials used for job applications. They were checked by several people already, even some potential hirers, overall feedback was that they consider the graphic design portfolio a quality one. But no offer on the table.
Is it something we are missing here? Are there some directions that would help in this situation, or a different path he may approach?
Lately he tried finding projects separately from the classic 9-5 job, but this part seems to function the same as on the above. Ghosting and silece.
Any help will be appreciated.
