P0011
Last week I did my oil change and immediately got a P0011 code. At first I wasn’t too worried because last July I did the timing belt job myself, but I didn’t replace the camshaft seal since I was still inexperienced at the time.
I took the car to my mechanic uncle and we basically redid the timing belt job as insurance. We verified the timing marks were lined up correctly, but after letting the car idle I ended up getting both P0011 and P0021.
After doing more research, everything kept pointing back to either an oil issue or possibly a cam timing issue. I checked the oil level and it was only halfway, which was strange, although the car had been leaking previously because of the cam seal. I added two quarts and the P0021 disappeared, leaving only the P0011.
I doubt the VVT solenoids are the issue since they were replaced in December, although they are Duralast and not OEM. At this point I’m not sure where else to look. Would it be worth testing the VVT solenoids to see if they may have failed prematurely? When we removed them to inspect they were clean and not clogged with dirty debris or oil.
