v1.05 is now available on GitHub. This is the most significant update since the alpha dropped. Here is what changed.

Two new chapters

Chapter 19: The Decision Attestation Layer — this is the chapter that answers the question Chapter 5 asked honestly: AquariuOS can produce a constitutionally legitimate decision, but how does that decision survive outside the architecture? The answer is a seven-layer chain of custody that takes a decision from formation through enforcement, independently verifiable at every stage by parties with no reason to trust the system that produced it. This chapter documents real systems built by real people who found each other through public work on this problem — an evidentiary architect in Italy, an admissibility architect in the United States, a responsibility attribution architect whose work maps the boundary between AI behavior and accountable decisions. None of them were recruited. None of them were paid. The convergence is the evidence that the gap is real.

Chapter 20: The Condition We Are Building Toward — the closing chapter. It steps back from the architecture and asks what all of it serves. The answer is SharedReality — not the application, the condition. The state in which what happened is not owned by whoever has the most power to insist on their version of it. The chapter moves through four scales: human relationships, communities, institutions, and the civilizational-level problem of AI systems making consequential decisions with no chain of custody. It closes with the honest claim this book makes: the problem is real, it is structural, and it is addressable. AquariuOS is a seed. The work continues.

What else changed in v1.05

The book is now titled AquariuOS: A Constitutional Infrastructure for Shared Reality — CISR is the category name for this class of system. AquariuOS is the reference implementation.

Chapter 14 and Chapter 17 have been tightened based on audit feedback — repetition reduced, domain descriptions condensed to focus on what is unique to each chapter rather than repeating what earlier chapters covered.

The Appendix E collaborator credits have been updated to reflect the full collaboration accurately.

What the T.A.L. collaboration actually is

The Decision Attestation Layer is being built in public. The living specification is at tal.certifywebcontent.com. Six of the seven layer positions now have named reference implementations. The architecture is system-agnostic — any implementation satisfying the same functional guarantee can occupy a layer. L6 Enforcement is open and the group is looking for the right contributor.

If you have been following the project this is the version worth reading. If you are new, Chapter 20 is the best entry point.
