I currently have a PS5 but I'm looking to acquire a Region Free blu ray player for Region B discs as the 4ks are Region Free. I'm not sure if I want to upgrade to a new player or just pick up something like the Panasonic DMP-BD Region Free Blu-ray player from 220. I see a lot of folks recommending the Panasonic UB820 but I feel like just as many if not more people complain about playback issues and artifacts. I've also looked at the Sony UBP-X800M2. Is it true that even if it's listed on a major retailer like Amazon as region free it truly isn't? I know 220 modifies theirs. Any advice between an upgrade or just getting a separate region free player would be appreciated.

I've seen a lot of back and forth and I'm trying to find the best versions for me as someone in North America with a Region A player, to purchase for The Killer, Hard Boiled, City on Fire, and A Better Tomorrow Trilogy ( I see it's very likely this will be out from Arrow this year). I've seen some discussions in regards to subtitles for Hard Boiled in the Shout version being slightly inaccurate but as a non Cantonese speaker I don't know how much of difference it makes. I'm unsure if City on Fire or The Killer suffer those same issues. The Arrow versions are obviously more expensive and if the differences are minimal I'd just go with the Shout. I realize I couldn't play the bonus blu rays as they are Region B, but the 4ks are all region free. Any advice is much appreciated.
