I am an American Idol for lifer been watching religiously since season 10 but last season really burned me out so when I started this season something just didn’t click and after the first 2 audition episodes I bailed and decided this would be the first AI season I don’t watch… then I saw a clip of Braden singing on Instagram and was like “well he seems pretty good” then saw a clip of Jordan and Chris and was like “well damn maybe I’m missing out on something” so between the top 5 and today I watched every episode and here are my quick thoughts.

- outside of the top 20 this season did not build up any storyline for the other folks so I have no comments about anyone who didn’t make the top 20 really. They all were intentionally edited to be a bit forgettable and it worked (usually the show builds up a few of these contestants so you feel something when they don’t make the top but I guess with shortened run time they just didn’t do that this year)
- the 20 -> 14 cut was brutal as it usually is biggest loss was Genevieve imo - she had a lot more gas in the tank but just was unceremoniously ditched here.
- really crazy how little time we get with the top contestants but I wish we had gotten one or two more performances out of Jake, Rae, & Daniel
- my vote to win is Jordan with Keyla second and Hannah third (but I guess browsing this subreddit it’ll be reversed 😭)
- it’s crazy that the top 5 will essentially get the same number of performance opportunities on the show with the top 3 just getting a little more. The show really needs to figure out how to spend more time with the top contestants we just don’t have enough time to fall in love anymore it’s a bummer.
- personally for me my favorites for this season were Genevieve, Daniel, Braden, & Rae!
- Is Randy Jackson okay?
- I love Keke Palmer, Jennifer Hudson, Paula Abdul, & Nikki Glaser and I hope that they do more fun guest judges like this Carrie, Luke & Lionel feels incredibly stale to me and for next season I legit hope they just get a whole new judge panel this group just isn’t working for me personally. (I think I miss Katy weirdly enough)
- Songs of faith night gotta go what a terrible way to kick off the top 14
- I liked Chris 🙊 didn’t realize this was controversial till I jumped on here to check some opinions. At least I wasn’t voting but I probably would’ve been voting for him.

For now I’m excited for the finale tonight and man I hope Jordan pulls this off - he absolutely deserves it from a performance standpoint he is just leagues above Hannah…. I’m sad I missed the craziness of social voting & Disney plus live streams! Honestly kind of excited for season 25!!
