Bedbugs in [IL] (Non-Chicago)
Spotted a bedbug on the bed a couple days ago, bagged everything, dried it, the usual affair and everything. I submitted a complaint to the landlord, as we just had new neighbors move in a couple of weeks ago and I suspect they've migrated over through the wall. LL says to call pest control myself, I tell him no, he ends up calling and the exterminator comes in today. We missed a few bugs on a curtain I hadn't taken down and now they're saying I was the cause of the bedbugs. Unlikely in my opinions (I do not travel nor am I in close contact with people) but of course I am biased.
They refuse to check the neighboring unit, despite even admitting in the lease that bedbugs can travel. How justified would I be to break my lease and move out if the neighbors are not inspected?
EDIT: He is also saying I will have to pay for all of the pest control, stating a clause in the lease though I'm not sure how enforceable that is.
