[OR] How to request accommodation after a job offer?

I’m seeking advice on how to ask my potential employer for accommodations on a transportation requirement I wasn’t informed of until receiving my offer letter.

Recommendations on specific wording would help the most!

I have a potentially life-changing job offer for an office admin role, but they require that I have a personal vehicle on-site to run occasional errands during the work day (purchasing supplies, post office runs, etc). This wasn’t brought up during my interviews or listed on the job ad. None of the duties listed indicated that owning and operating a car was required. I don’t have my license due to disability and can’t safely drive.

I emailed back, asking if their automobile policy was essential or if there was any room for flexibility, and they replied that “some car mobility” is required.

In the past, I was in a similar role, which allowed me to use the company card to call Ubers for time-sensitive errands during office hours. There was never any issue, and this potential new job is also in a city that seems to have quick Uber responses and is within 10 minutes of a post office.

I really want this job but can be piss-poor at advocating for myself. How would you recommend approaching this?

I assume that the best time to discuss ADA accommodations is after receiving an offer but before accepting, is that correct? Would you have this conversation over phone or email?

Advice on specific wording would help the most!

I have a potentially life-changing job offer for an office admin role, but found out only in the offer letter that they need you to have a personal vehicle on-site to run some errands during the work day (purchasing supplies, post office runs, etc).

I’m a bit peeved to be finding this out now, as it wasn’t listed on the job ad, and I don’t drive or even have my license due to disability.

I emailed back, asking if their automobile policy was essential or if there was any room for flexibility, and they confirmed it’s required.

Via phone seems more professional to me and less likely to result in miscommunication, but I also don’t want to come across as being flippant with their time by scheduling a call that could be a 3-line email, and it might be more advantageous to have the negotiations documented in writing.
