I was recently added to a Teams chat with one associate and a few other (mostly junior) paralegals. Most of us work on the same cases together, so I didn’t think it was that odd at first. However, over time the associate in the chat started talking shit on fellow associates to the paralegals. This *feels* wrong and inappropriate, especially because some of us work directly with some of the associates who have been gossiped about and this associate is our superior lol.
I don’t really know what to do about this. I’ve made an effort to ignore a lot of it and I’ve been busy with other things, but it just bothers me to have my name associated with this bunch. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I work at a smaller sized lit firm that has had a really negative office culture lately (both related to gossip and unrelated). Curious as to whether this situation (or similar) happens to others or if my firm is uniquely struggling right now.
