I think the twins were blonde and know for sure one was a girl and one was a boy. I feel like the girl’s name may have been Ruby? One of the novels I believe had them go to South Asia (I believe India but could be somewhere else) where the world’s largest gem had been stolen. There is of course a villain that is involved in multiple books. I think there was also one that took place in the United Kingdom and there was some underground chamber but that is much less clear in my mind than the India one was.

I read it about a decade ago, in middle school as part of a summer reading assignment. I remember the kid had to go to detention (I wanna say Saturday) and I think grows a bond with his teacher during it. I remember it having Cold War because the kid had to practice going under the desk in case of bombs. I also think the main character had a sister who was supposed to be a sort of hippie character who liked the Monkees (the band). There was a bully character as well from what I remember. Finally, and this might be again a complete misrememebrance on my part but I feel like it was called “Saturdays With Mr./Ms ____” but I’ve tried looking up something like that before without finding anything like that.
