In his little chat with Tabitha and Boyd Jade put forward a very reasonable theory: that Jim died because they found out about the children and their past lives. Makes sense right? If the Man in Yellow didn't come, what would have killed Jim during the day? And by night he would have been safe at home.

He didn't just appear there. He was in the background even before that. Where? No idea. I'm sure we will get to find out, maybe together wuth the teen monster.
