I, too, find ads very annoying and sometimes they will make me resent the brand. But that doesn't matter. People are far more comfortable buying something that they've heard of before. It makes the brand seem more trustworthy, noble, whatever it is. Ads aren't supposed to make you go out and immediately purchase the product (even though that does work for some people).
Plus I know for a fact that we've all seen an ad for candy or ice cream or a fast food place before and instantly started craving it.
YES I am being petty. But there is no way that anyone could know for a fact that advertisement doesn't work on them.
