Huawei or Honor

Which brand do you prefer: Huawei, Honor, or perhaps both?

I absolutely love both brands, but I simply can't decide which one should become my primary brand. Currently, I am using the Huawei Mate 50 Pro (EU Global Version, EMUI 14.2) and the Honor Magic 8 Pro (China Version) side-by-side.

I am a huge fan of Huawei's XMAGE camera, but I also highly value Honor's camera performance. Furthermore, the Magic 8 Pro impresses me immensely with its massive 7,200 mAh battery.

As for my accessories, I am firmly embedded in the Huawei ecosystem: I use the FreeBuds 5i and the Watch Ultimate 2—products I consider absolutely brilliant and would never want to give up (though I might potentially give Teufel a try for headphones someday).

My current lineup consists of:

Huawei Mate 10 Pro (EU)

Huawei Mate 50 Pro (EU)

Honor Magic 6 Pro (EU)

Honor Magic 8 Pro (China)

What do you think? Which brand should I use as my primary smartphone for daily use? I’m eager to hear your opinions!

Huawei Mate 50 Pro Emui 15

Will the Huawei Mate 50 Pro EU Global Version receive EMUI 15? So far, I only have EMUI 14.2.

Huawei Mate 50 Pro

Guys, I just have to get this off my chest. I live here in Germany and just spotted an incredible deal on the classifieds: A Huawei Mate 50 Pro for a mere €225! What can I say? The thing is like new—not a single scratch—looking fresh right out of the box, and the battery still has a full 100% capacity! For comparison, I have the Magic 8 Pro and even the Magic 6 Pro lying right here next to me—but honestly? Neither of them feels quite as good to me as the Mate 50 Pro. The Mate is simply the better overall package. I also owned the Mate 60 Pro+, but I much prefer the 50 Pro for daily use. I simply missed using a Huawei device every day, and now I’m finally back! Everything runs like clockwork—it’s absolutely reliable, and there are zero issues. Everything runs buttery smooth on EMUI 14.2. The camera is an absolute highlight—in my opinion, still the best on the market. I’m going to be shooting a ton of videos and photos with it here in Germany—and later in Spain, too—and I’ll definitely be posting them here! The infrared blaster is also fantastic; I even use it to control my TV, and it gives the device a real premium feel. As for Google services: Absolutely no stress! Just install the Aurora Store and MicroG, and everything works perfectly. Updates arrive reliably, so I don't even need the Play Store anymore. The only thing missing is 5G, but that doesn't bother me one bit in my day-to-day life. When I move to Spain in 2028 or 2029, the Mate will definitely be coming along as my companion. My verdict: If you’re thinking about buying a Mate 50 Pro in 2026—or anytime in the coming years—just go for it! Buy it and don't give it a second thought. It is absolutely worth it. The device runs so well that you really have nothing to worry about. Now, my question to you guys: What do you think of the Mate 50 Pro? Do you have one too? What are your thoughts and experiences with the device? Who else simply finds Huawei better than Honor—even though Honor makes good devices as well? I simply missed using a Huawei in my daily life, and now I'm back!

I ordered the Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 from Otto in Germany on an installment plan. I'm curious to see what the watch is like; I'm coming from the Huawei Watch GT2.
