I need some help with a kitten who won't sleep!
My male ragdoll is 10 months old. Previously our evening routine would be that we'd give him a big play and give him his supper in our bedroom room when we'd go to bed, he'd then go for a play by himself downstairs for 15 mins or so then come back up and sleep on our bed all night.
He then started to have his supper, and bang on the wardrobe doors, and swing our bedroom door back and forth (it squeaks a lot) so we started putting him out for a bit and shutting out door (he has access to the top hall, stairs and bottom hall, that have a scratch post, a scratch board, a ball track toy, 2 beds, food, water, his litter tray and toys) then an hour or so later when I was going to go to sleep id let him in and he'd fall asleep on our bed all night.
But then he started not settling when he came back in so he just stayed out there all night and would get let back in when my husband got up for work at 5am and he'd sleep on the bed with me till I got up at 8/9.
The problem now is at 2/3/4 in the morning he'll now bang on our bedroom door from the outside, wanting in, and claw at the hall carpet. It wakes us up. If I get up and let him in, he bangs on the wardrobe doors and swings the bedroom door again. But if I put him back out/keep him out, he bangs our door wanting in and claws the carpet. Either way we're getting woken up by him every night
We've tried a door stop on the bedroom door which stops the squeaks, but not the banging. The wardrobe doors are sliding doors so they wobble when he hits them. And it's so loud. We know we shouldn't react and should just ignore it but it's so loud and my husband gets up at 5am for work and needs his sleep
I don't know why he's gone from sleeping all night to not settling at all in the last 1-2 weeks or so. Nothing else has changed
Has anyone else dealt with something similar?
