A race for the ages
Ended up in a passive aggressive walking race with a foreign girl today. (I knew she wasn’t Irish because she stopped to wait for the green man at traffic lights!)
She first passed me walking down Summerhill. Nothing unusual there, I was leisurely strolling. I passed her when she was waiting at the lights at the bottom of the hill and I kept going because there was no traffic. About a minute later she arrives down the outside going fairly fast but still walking and giving me the side eye. She got out in front outside St John’s and then slowed down to a normal pace. I knew what was happening then.
We met again at the lights at the top of South Terrace and I walked straight across again while she waited. Once across I stalled a bit to give her a chance to catch up. She had just passed when we got to Crawford and Co and ended up stood next to each other at the lights. I was pretending to look at my phone.
Once the lights went green she took off and I strolled behind giving her a head start. I saw her give a glance to the side to see where I was and knew she thought she had me bate.
I got going then. Dropped a gear, stepped into the bike lane outside the district court and started walking like I had 4 minutes to get to the offie before it closed. Left her for dead. I was half way across the bridge before she got to the lights.
Another win for Cork!!
