Bad Golf fitting, any recommendations?
So I am a 27 y/o who has been golfing since I was about 13 y/o. I’m a fit 6’5 200 lbs and swing pretty good to consistently shoot high 70’s low 80’s.
My driver is the weakest part of my game as it’s a Taylormade R11 with the stock stiff shaft. I hit it as far as my R15 3-wood which is about 260 yards. I finally decided to go get fitted since Taylormade Qi4d came out with their shadow fall collection completely blacked out which is way better then the navy green of the original.
So I booked a driver fitting for $100 at a place in Kansas City called Golf MD for an hour. I show up a little early to get loose and see what the place was about. Great set up but when the bay opened up for me around my appointment the dude behind the desk said “I guess I’m doing your fitting”
Not the best start but I was hoping that everyone working at this establishment was very knowledgeable, not the case unfortunately. All the other fitters seemed very competent but my guy spent almost 3-5 minutes between switching shafts or heads because he couldn’t get the screws right.
He put me in heads that I said I didn’t want to hit (at the beginning I said I only want to hit Taylormade or titleist) then he asked me if I would play callaway after hitting it I said no, and he goes well we’re just wasting our time. (I SAID THAT I ONLY WANTED TO HIT TAYLORMADE OR TITELIST) the whole fitting this guy would not explain anything to me, I had the ask what the different modifications he was making were actually doing. He spoke very softly and mentioned multiple times when he couldn’t screw a head onto a new shaft that he was frustrated.
An hour came along and we had made almost no progress, we knew I needed a x stiff shaft and a low spinning head and that’s it. Finally by this time the main guy that runs the place finished up a fitting next to me and started to take over the fitting basically telling my guy what to do. This is when we finally made some progress but then we got to the two hour mark and at this point I was blistering up from hitting so many drivers.
They fit me into
Titleist GT3 Driver
Loft: 9° head
Hosel setting: D5
KBS PGW 70 TX Shaft
Weight: 70g
Flex: TX (Tour Extra Stiff)
At this point I hit this set up pretty good but not the best. At the two hour point I felt done and I think they did too but I still didn’t have the best set up truly fitted for me so I’m kinda disappointed.
I think I need to go somewhere and try these combos out a little more before I purchase
