The title is pretty straight forward, but I’ve been having a bit of a soul searching moment this past year. To provide a bit of context:
Originally, I went to school and secured a BA in art history. Thinking I’d lean into restoration/conservation, but eventually taking a different route and working in athletics. I’m a coach now for the sport I participated in while in college, and I’ve loved it. Although recently, I decided that I wanted to go back to school, and grow beyond the coaching role.
I was just wondering if anyone has tried to get into the outdoor industry without a baccalaureate educational background in it (environmental studies, ecology, urban planning, etc.), and what was the success of this? Additionally, if there’s any insight on whether or not my existing BA and job experience can be applicable. For context, I’ve been exploring potential educational roles or outdoor recreation economy degrees/certifications.
Any insight is appreciated!
