My league is a recreational league, pretty small with only one team which is largely C-level. We have a couple of B- and A- level skaters who, for every bout so far this year, are selected to be the only jammers. Myself and 2 others, all C level, would love to get more practice jamming. The coaches/captains are aware of this, but we are always overlooked -- "you'll be backup jammers!" they'll say, except our jammers rarely ever need a backup jammer to step in. Last year, the coaches and captains gave us many opportunities to jam; I don't know what has changed.

I understand positioning the high-level skaters such that they can get us a win, but I also don't know how the rest of the aspiring jammers are ever supposed to get practice. Even at practice, it's largely the A/B-level skaters who are told to jam.

I don't know, maybe I truly am bad at jamming and shouldn't be doing it. Or maybe I need to find a league that needs jammers or is more conscious about rotating in lower-level jammers. Or maybe I should take a break from derby because stupid little things like this are getting to me. I'm just feeling frustrated with the decisions being made and also feeling down on myself for not being a better jammer, and I would really appreciate advice or even simply hearing that others are facing or have faced similar issues.
