Preserving my budgie's feathers

Hi everyone! Over the past few years I’ve collected over 30 naturally‑molted feathers from my budgie, all of different sizes. I currently keep them wrapped in a satin cloth, but I’d really like to preserve them properly so they don’t discolor or get damaged over time.

Has anyone done this successfully? A few things I’m unsure about:

  • Should I wash the feathers, or is it safer to just wipe them gently with a clean cloth?
  • Should I sanitize them beforehand and if so, is there a recommended way to do so without ruining them?
  • For long‑term storage, what’s best - a glass jar, a glass frame, or something else?
  • Should I worry about humidity, pests, or light exposure?

My goal is to keep them looking beautiful forever (or for as long as I live 🥺). Any tips, methods, or examples of what’s worked for you would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
