Its about a brother and sister, the sister gets good grades and her brother is struggling. He disappears most times and is a disappointment to his father.

One night they get into an argument and the father hits his son, the son takes off.

One day the family (minus the son, I think) are driving around the neighborhood and they see that the rundown houses have been fixed or improved. There is this one house that has a ramp because the homeowner is in a wheelchair. A neighbor says that the homeowner has been going up and down the ramp like a little kid.

He also tells the family that its the son that has been doing all of these kind things for the neighborhood.

That's all I remember.

If anyone can tell me the name of the book or the author it would be much appreciated

It's about this little boy who wakes up screaming and his mom runs into his room to comfort him.

This has been going on for some time and the little family is beyond exhausted. Anyway...they visit a doctor who tells them he can help them. So, the boy explains about the creatures in his head, they won't leave him alone, they won't let him sleep.

Finally, the doctor tells the boy to banish the creatures by shouting at them "Get out of my head right now!" (Or something like that) After shouting at the creatures to leave the boy says "They left, I don't hear them anymore!" Later that night, the boy gets his first good night sleep in a long time.

The doctor on the other hand, stumbles into the bathroom looking older and breathing hard and stares at himself in the mirror "We are here" says the voice in his head. And that's all I remember.

I think this may be part of an anthology; I just can't remember the book's title!

If anyone knows the story I'm talking about, please let me know.
