I gotta say … for such great tools .. they are exceptional in tasks so far .
After a little bit of stropping , both of these tools have been great. I’ve hacked away at some kindling , did a bit of spoon carving , and even thrown the little X13 fiskars (35$) into a target with no cares.
The BPS Aurora is my new daily . It’s such a good full tang /scandi /stainless knife with an awesome sheath …. For 66$, I think I’ll be buying one for my car kit . It is honestly so much better than other knifes I own that are twice the price .
The last pic is my usual kit (Malanika and Grans-Bruks) . I honestly think for about 1/6th the price you get 90% the value of the expensive Gucci gear .

Come spend the afternoon chatting about Dean Potter and our experiences running rabid with him for a few decades.
Please be respectful, and understand that he was our good friend .
Thanks everyone

As the season finale showed last night …. It’s safe to say that this will be another feather in Sender Films cap… and probably another well earned award for such an amazing documentary on a truly unique character.
This premieres as SxSW in part , then all four episodes played here at our own BiFF where it sold out nightly .
After 25+ years of running “The Reel Rock Tour”, which is basically what Warren Miller films are to skiers … but for climbers …. This is their first series that didn’t tour around the country , but went straight to syndication.
Sender is well known for their 2 Emmy winning films The Dawn Wall & The Alpinist .
This project was made here in Boulder , by local boulder folks , with many people that contributed being long time locals .
Please take a look if you have HBO . It was truly a project born out of the teams hearts to honor a special friend and amazing human .
Enjoy 😊.

Bittersweet to wrap up this last episode tonight @ 7pm Mountain . I feel like part of me is so happy to see this project shared with everyone …. And part of me is bummed for it to be wrapped up . I know it probably sounds selfish … but somehow … helping with this project has made me feel still “connected” .
I hope this last episode gives most of y’all a good peak into what made Dean tick and Tock the last few years we were lucky enough to have him around .
I think in a week or two , Brad L. And maybe a few other friends will get together and do a proper AMA on The Wizard 🧙. What day would work best for everyone ?

Pics …. These are a bunch of different pics of Dean and I running around at the Cave of the Swallows , Yosemite , skydiving in Colorado , and Moab . This first pic is Dean with the local family that would feed us daily when we camped out next to the cave ….. they are Indians called Potosinos … for the region near San Luis Potosí .

PS - A huge thanks to everyone that has been following this series . Everyone’s support has meant so much to the entire team over at Sender Films . 🎥

Thought I’d share a personal reel from when I was running commercial trips to both the cave , and El Gigante in northern Mexico’s Copper Canyon.

I ran trips to Mexico from 2002-2012. I used a motorized gas powered capstans winch to lift jumpers back out of the cave , and a Bell Jet-Ranger 206 to service clients in Copper Canyon .

While this isn’t directly climbing , it’s big wall adventure stuff, and subterranean rope access stuff as well. I figured since we are talking Dean a bit , it’s somewhat relevant..

Please remove if not allowed mod’s .

Who is ready for Episode 3 tonight ? Having super fun watching this with friends and family . My mom used to cook meals for Dean at our family restaurant in Boulder when he was learning to skydive . She is loving seeing him once more .

I’m super grateful to be a part of honoring Dean . Love him … hate him … whatever your take is , Dean was a unique person, possibly an alien from another world .

All of his accomplishments , while easily dismissed on their face value as someone seeking glory … shouldn’t be ignored . I don’t know how many of us have carried a paraplegic all the way to the base of half done on their back so they could attempt to climb the wall; or how many of us could repel/slide down a rope for 300+ feet using our hands as a friction/repel device and live to tell the tale , or one of the many otherworldly feats that I’ve personally witnessed with my own two eyes 👀…….. but Dean was unique .
