Solo Founder here, been building Foodivo for the last few months. Sharing because I'd love feedback.
The problem I had: going out to eat as someone with allergies/glutenfrei/Veggie/with-kids in Germany is a 5-app-and-3-phone-calls process. Existing apps just say "vegan-friendly: yes/no" — useless when 2 of 30 dishes are actually vegan.
What Foodivo does differently:
- Per-dish allergen tagging via LLM extraction from menu PDFs/websites — so you see "16 of 47 dishes are vegan, 8 of those gluten-free" per restaurant
- Wheelmap-compatible accessibility incl. interior (toilet, tables, ramp)
- Family-friendly metadata (highchair count, changing table, indoor playground)
- AI chat that combines all filters in natural language
Stack: Flutter (web + native coming), FastAPI + Postgres backend, Gemini 2.5 Flash for menu extraction, OSM/Nominatim for geo.
Where it's at: ~258k restaurants across Germany via OSM crawl, 11k cities, beta phase. Web live at [link in profile bc Reddit drosselt sonst die Reichweite — but happy to DM].
What I'd love feedback on:
- Is "filter by per-dish tagging" useful or overengineered for your use case?
- iOS Safari geolocation is killing me (Apple is brutal here) — anyone solved this elegantly without going native?
- How would you market this to allergic/inclusion communities without coming across as exploitative?
