Hey, new to here... sporadic user of Smule for 10 years but just started feeling like I'm in a groove, so been busy the past couple months.

I've run across a couple things that I question if I'm being rude or doing the "wrong" thing... other times, I act like my username would hint to and say to myself, "I don't see everyone else doing it... so whatever." But I am curious...

- Liking your own stuff? -

I say only when you actually like yourself, a lot of my old [privated] stuff isn't... let's just say I was an annoying drunk singer and I never liked how I sounded. So, if anyone went through my public stuff, I've probably liked 99% of it... the new stuff not the drunken stuff.

- What should I do when 75% of the song they were doing good but run off time/off beat/way off key for the other 25%? -

Sing over them? I know I like when people do that over my own rough spots. Do you drop back and try to match their new rhythm? Idk... part of me thinks the singing over may be rude while the singing off with them may come across as mocking?

-When creating an invite from a join you already did... should you credit the first person that you originally joined?-

It seems to be friends doing this or only a few people, but maybe others do it too and can weigh in.

I'm not saying what I do/have is right, just making the best decisions as I go. Would rather not be a jerk... contrary to what my name may make you think. Or my disorderly past.

[Edit: all below added, no edits above]

only a handful of responses so far but, correct me if Im wrong... it seems general consensus says "you do you, just don't be a jerk on purpose and spread the love", kind of as I thought to start.

Seeing how important people see responses to duets they've joined... I knew a lil first-hand but, that leads me to a new question. Which I am sure I already know the answer but I'll ask first...

  • Copy and Paste comments? "Generic responses"?- I can already say I would prefer no c&p comments, but there also only seems so much that can be said. I only have so many adjectives without getting redundant. If a person joins a lot? If the person sings all your invites but couldn't carry a tune? Comment every time? Say "amazing job" when they were closer to nails on chalkboard?

I want to promote positivity but I don't want to lie to do it.

Thank you for all the responses so far!
