If you live paycheck to paycheck, that means that if you have an unexpected large expense, or you lose your job, you will instantly be left with no money. And in the US, due to a severe lack of worker protections, it is much easier for employers to fire employees than in other countries. On top of that, healthcare costs an astronomical amount of money in the US. As such, if the majority of the US population lives paycheck to paycheck, shouldn't there be far more homeless people than there currently are? Do the vast majority of people who live paycheck to paycheck somehow manage to avoid ever having job losses or unexpected large expenses like medical bills? Or somehow find ways to cover their rent during tough times?
