Tl/dr : 8.25 right, tip to tip, solid brass body/steel tip, and about 4 to 5 pounds. Asking $100 obo, meet near Portland, OR or we can discuss shipping and open to trades.

Saved this from going to scrap yard, didnt even know what it was until I googled it. Ive found near identically ones on ebay but we're about an inch or 2 shorter listed for over $300, and the most recently sold one was only 5 inches was sold /1 month ago for $195.

Its solid brass with steel, tip to tip its slightly over 8 inches (8.25 inches about) and also about 8.25 inches at its largest diameter. The steel spike is exactly 3 inches long. Theres no manufacturur or identifiable info but seems to be professionally made at end of 1800s from what ive gathered. The cap holding the string also unscrews and screws on and off fine.

I could probably hold out for a bit and list it for more, but oh well, im askin $100 obo. I live in rural area outside Portland, OR so can meet in city somewhere, or we can work out shipping costs together or see whats up, reply or shoot me a messae or feel free to enlighten me or make suggestions, or trade offers?

Just found out what a plumb bob is today. And i have to tell you, my buddy was very surprised to find this at the bottom of a years old trash pile, and i had to buy it from him to convince him not to take it to scrap yard.... Haha

My first thought was old school weight for a fishing net or depth measurer, but i was way off ... But honestly, the big question tool people, prices online are outrageous, and there cant be an enormous market for Plumb Bobs, whats my realistic market price, or if i was to sell it to an antique shop or something, what could i expect to get offered?

It measures about 8.5 inches long, the spike is exactly 3 inches, at its thickest its roughly 8.5 inches also, and weighs .... A lot for its size... Ide say roughly 5 lbs? Maybe 4 lbs? Thanks my friends!

New renters utility pole, it's leaning but not coming down, but the top wire in set of three has been disconnected from a middle pole and slacks down to about 9 ft from ground, the ground i got caught up in with a mattress which is how i noticed...

How worried should i be if any at all? Who do i contact if it's serious? How dire is it to fix? Electric shock chance?

Hope pictures make sense.....
