best surround sound deals right now or should i just stick with a soundbar?

i’ve been wanting to upgrade my living room audio setup for a while because my tv speakers are honestly terrible for movies and gaming. at first i was dead set on getting a soundbar because it seemed simpler, but then i started looking into surround sound setups and now i’m stuck overthinking everything.

the problem is there are so many options once you start comparing receivers, speaker packages, wireless rear speakers, atmos setups, and all that stuff. some people say even a budget surround sound system blows away expensive soundbars, while others say it’s not worth the extra cables and hassle unless you go all in.

i’ve been trying to find the best surround sound deals before spending too much, but it’s hard to tell what’s actually good value versus just marketing hype. for people who upgraded from a soundbar to real surround sound, did it feel like a huge difference in everyday use? and if you were starting from scratch today, what setup would you go with for the money?
