Imagery vs Guidebook: What Matters to You?

I’m a writer who has been offered a chance to work with a multimedia artist on a 54-card oracle deck. The artist has already selected which of her artworks she wants to use and has established a title for each card (“Forgiveness,” “Release,” etc). I presume I’ll be writing everything else.

So: how important is the guidebook? Does that make or break a deck for you, or do you rely on your own interpretations?

Would you, as an oracle deck enthusiast, be bothered if a deck’s guidebook were written by some schmuck like me?

Thank you in advance for your thoughts!

Last winter I destroyed every egg mass I found in my yard, but my neighbor’s tree of heaven, Amur honeysuckle and wild grape are harboring about a billion lanternfly nymphs and I’m really upset about it. Last year the sooty mold from the bugs’ honeydew killed two of three brand-new viburnum I had planted. I don’t want to lose the third one!

Nobody has been living on the property for several months, but the lawn has been maintained, so it’s not abandoned. I guess I‘ll write them a letter begging them to at least take down the tree of heaven… but I need mitigation ideas in the meantime!

- Has anyone tried lanternfly traps? Which ones are effective?

- Is there any kind of pretreatment I can do on my side of the fence to deter the nymphs? I smash them on sight but there’s so many 😩
