We always focus on the "valonqar" choking her. We focus on her power-hungry mistakes. But we ignore the foundational psychology of Cersei, and what happens when that psychology is forced into a purely, infantile state of being.
I present the Infant Daemon Theory: Cersei is not just a narcissistic ruler; she is a "sadist in the spirit of winter"—a force that brings the apocalypse purely for the joy of destruction, and she will do it because she acts as an infant, demanding the world bend to her whim.
In AFFC, Cersei constantly thinks of herself as a fierce lioness, but her actions are those of a petulant child. When Tywin dies, she acts like a toddler whose toy was taken. She burns the Tower of the Hand not for strategy, but to feel powerful.
The Theory: Her descent into paranoia isn't breaking her mind; it’s freeing her to be her truest, most sadistic form. She is reverting to a purely emotional state where “I want” is the only law.
Maggy the Frog mentioned "gold shall be their crowns and gold their shrouds." Tyrion calls her "as gentle as King Maegor, as selfless as Aegon the Unworthy". This isn't just sarcasm. It's foreshadowing.
