Hey everyone,

I’m losing my mind with the pop up notification issue on my Pixel 9a (fully up to date, March 2026 patch)

WhatsApp messages arrive fine in the notification shade (the pull-down menu), but the phone is completely "dead" when they arrive..

No pop up, no sound, no vibration, just the Whatsapp icon on the top left and the notification in the shade.

Here are the things I did

Battery: Set WhatsApp to "Unrestricted."
App Info: Toggled "Allow Notifications" on. Checked "Message Notifications" category. it’s set to Default with "Pop on screen toggled ON.
WhatsApp Settings: Reset all notification settings inside the app.
System: Reset App Preferences, cleared Cache for WhatsApp

Is anyone else seeing this? Has anyone found a fix that?
