There was a sexual harassment complaint against a fratman from Alpha Phi Beta. It wasn't even made public right away. From what I've gathered based on what's going around, the complaint was quietly raised with some female members of the LSG, probably hoping it would be handled properly, discreetly, and with some level of care for the victim.

Pero anong nangyari? When the issue was brought up within the LSG, members of that same frat inside the student government allegedly leaked the information to their fratmates. Sensitive details, pinasa lang basta-basta. Walang respeto sa vicitm, walang basic decency.

And now? The frat is out here doing what they do best. Preotecting their own at all costs. May narrative na kumakalat na yung girl daw yung "lumalapit", that she was coming on to the harasser. Classic victim-blaming instead of holding their fratmate accountable.

Ganito nalang ba palagi? Frat loyalty over justice? Over basic decency?

UP LSG, you're supposed to be a safe space for students, especially for cases like this. Pero kung may mga tao sa loob niyo who will prioritize their frat over the people they're supposed to serve, then what does that say about the entire system? Are you not going to address this issue?

And to the fratmen inside LSG: mahiya naman kayo. If your first instinct is to leak, protect, and twist the story instead of listening and holding your own accountable, then you're part of the problem.

This is exactly why people are calling to ABOLISH FRATS IN UP. Because time and time again, mas nangingibabaw yung "brotherhood" niyo kaysa sa katotohanan at hustisiya.

Do better LSG! Do better UP!
