So I'm planning to stay at Studax for the duration of the upcoming academic year, but that's kind of the problem. I want to stay only for the academic year which ends around june then I plan to go back to my home country, but the housing contract is for 12 whole months. I mean, is this normal for a student housing? Because usually a student stays for about 10 months.

The early termination clause stipulates:

The tenant may terminate this agreement prematurely: [...]

b. After the commencement of this tenancy agreement:

ii. By giving two months notice:

- upon the official termination of the study programme upon presentation of proof from the educational institution.

I contacted the house manager and she told me that I have to pay for 12 months, so I assume that by "official termination" they dont mean the end of the program.

What do people usually do in this situation? Do they just leave and pay for the months they're not there? Do they sublet?

I recently got accepted into Studax residence but i see that there is no mini fridge in the rooms, only a space in the common fridges. How does that work? Do i just put my stuff and hope that no one takes it or do i get a shelf with a lock or something?

I know there's an option to get a mini fridge in the room but i want to avoid the extra costs since I'm already cutting my budget pretty close.
