[JFK-LAX] In defense of the A321XLR Flagship Suites
I’ll start by saying this is purely from the perspective of a passenger. I know cabin crews have their own concerns with these jets and I can’t speak to those, I can only express my thoughts on the passenger experience. I think the new product has received an unfairly bad rap. I am 6’1” and 190 lbs and I found the seats to be much more spacious than they appear in photos. The footwells are unconstrained and the walls high and private. I also don’t mind facing the aisle since I feel tucked away by the aircraft wall, especially with the walls of the suite being high enough that you don’t see anybody anyway. There is plenty of storage and the cabin is nicely designed (compared to any of the current drab gray cabins in AA’s fleet). The flight attendant was also able to serve dinner easily with the screens deployed, and even with them stowed, you can still clearly watch them, they are just slightly askew. It also really is not hard to look out the window, you just have to turn your head. I’m going to go out on a limb and I say I much prefer this to the current A321T business and even first class product. I really don’t understand what all the complaining is about.
