Just for reference, I've had quite a few iRobot and two Eurkea robots before this. So, my comparisons are based on those experiences.

My apartment is a single floor with about 50/50 carpeted areas and laminate flooring.

Pros:

  • Very easy setup. It was ready to go out of the box, no assembly required. And setting up with the app on my phone was super easy.
  • The initial mapping of my apartment was pretty quick. Faster than the iRobot ones I've had (pre-lidar models) and only a little bit slower than the Eureka units. (They had lidar, probably helped)
  • It's very quiet when vacuuming and still does a good job, with one exception. See below.
  • No streaking when moping. This was a huge issue with the Eureka models, so I was very happy to see this.
  • It comes with everything you need. The accessories box has quite a few replacement bags, an extra mop roll, two packets multi-surface floor cleaning solutions, and two packets of hardwood floor cleaning solution.

Cons:

  • Edge cleaning, it does good at edge cleaning but runs into the wall ALOT when making turns. I'm guessing this will be improved via software updates sooner or later.
  • Pet hair. I have a short haired cat. And after vacuuming and moping the laminate floor areas, it leaves little wet cat hair tootsies rolls scattered around.
  • At almost 8 inches tall, the height of the unit is an issue for some furniture.
  • Added: Creating no-go zones in the app is frustrating. Needs a better UX design.

Areas of improvement for whatever/whenever their next version is developed.

A stronger vacuum would be nice. There were small issues with it not picking up some small things on the floor.

Better pet hair handling.

Shorter physical size, even if that requires a larger footprint. 5 inches max height would be my personal recommendation.

Edit: Some additional thoughts.

I really like that you can set a "sink waypoint" that it will go to when it needs a water refill. So, it's right there by the sink for you.

I think the robot and the mat I have on the floor for the cat's litter box are in a relationship now. The robot was aggressively mounting it and pushing it around the room.

One additional complaint after using it for a day:

Creating no-go zones in the app is way more difficult than it needs to be. I guarantee someone in the marketing department came up with the idea "Let the users draw out areas freehand." which sounds good, until you actually try to do it. Your finger is kind of in the way on the screen when you're drawing. And if you accidently fill in too much, there's no easy way to erase without having to start over.

Just let us use shapes. Make a square, and stretch it out to the desired area.
