PPI rebound after a month still? Never had heartburn until I stopped, really struggling
I was on a PPI for about 6 months for gastritis, after a successful healing process and clear scope I was told by my GI to stop taking the PPI, rebound acid from the PPI never mentioned. After 2 days of stopping I developed a lot of bloating, burping, and very very intense and painful heartburn/acid reflux. I didn't have these symptoms until I stopped the PPI, and now deal with them 24/7.
I've read around and from what I gather rebound usually only lasts 2 weeks for most people, but I've seen some people saying theirs lasted for months, and I'm making this post to ask for people's experiences on this topic since I'm really struggling right now. My GI hasn't been useful and says my symptoms are probably anxiety driven, but I'm not an anxious person and even with all this pain I'm still calm but the rebound persists.
