Just came here to rant about today's college situation, as a sophomore in high school. I have a 4.0 uw/4.6 weighted GPA, and am taking the SAT in June, but so far, my practice test scores have been in the 1550-1600 range. I'm scared of fading into the pool of applicants with perfect grades and no personality, and seek to be further involved in extracurriculars. In school, I participate in various clubs, am varsity tennis captain, and I do volunteer work and Taekwondo on a national level outside of school. However, particularly this summer, I've been interested in an internship. So far, I will be engaging in volunteer work related to civic engagement, and likely will be performing economic research with a local professor over the summer. It seems like, though, everyone who's applying to these programs already has crazy experience, and I feel stuck in a loop where I'm not sure how to get more experiences (it's like a little paradox- I want to get opportunities. -> for these internships, you're competing with people who've already done various opportunities -> you can't start). From student to student, does anyone have advice on how to land an internship and actually be able to gain experience in the first place?

Also, BTW, I am interested in double majoring in economics and either political science/finance, to become a corporate lawyer. Current dream schools include UChicago, UMich, UC Berkeley, and Yale/UPenn (hopefully)

Advice in general on how to approach this summer and my junior year would be much appreciated, feel free to dm!!

Hey guys, congrats to everyone who placed at ICDC!!

Now that the DECA season is over, I, like many fellow members, want to get a head start into thinking about next year (WE, yes we, will be placing at Anaheim 2027).

I know that competitiveness of events varies greatly from year to year and per state (for context, I am from New Jersey), and each person may be better at a certain event based on their experience, but I need some help in deciding what to do next year.

For 20-pagers, me and my group have 3 top options (in this order): FOR, IBP, and BOR. So far, we have an idea for FOR that we would be passionate about, and one for IBP that we do like, but are not as much interested in. However, I've heard that FOR can be a highly competitive event, so I would like to know any red flags before I decide which event to do.

Please let me know which one out of these three is the best, and if you have any general recommendations for both 20 pager and a solo event in terms of difficulty level (I will evaluate my interest in them).
