First go at tiling and I'm doing a back splash onto plasterboard which I've watched videos on and I'll give it a go.

But I'm looking for advice on the backs of these steps. There's wood on the backs and then chipboard on the sides. Can I put tiles directly onto these or do I need to do something else before?

Any advice welcome
